With the South China Sea, and the Straits of Malacca surrounding the country, Malaysia is blessed with the luxury of a diverse marine ecology which has been developed to satisfy those with a taste of adventure. The Marine Parks in Malaysia are of world class status and has drawn many tourists to the depths of the marine life. Malaysia's first protected marine park, the Terengganu Marine Park, located north of Kuala Terengganu and an archipelago that contains nine islands;
- Pulau Sipadan, Malaysia's only oceanic island, renowned for its wide range of rare marine species;
- Pahang Marine Parks, consisting of eight islands and with one of the best dive sites being Tiger Reef, which has a particularly high number of sea fans;
- Pulau Paya Marine Park;
- Pulau Perhentian, off the coast of Kelantan, rich in giant soft corals, large schools of pelagic fish and nocturnal shellfish; - Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park;
- Labuan Island, a popular wreck-diving destination, with two wrecks from ships sunk in World War II, and one recent Malaysian wreck.

2. Redang Island, Terengganu

4. Tenggol Island, Terengganu

Marine life that can be seen here includes sharks, rays, nudibranch and a wide variety of hard and soft coral. Before being declared a marine park, Pulau Tenggol was a favourite hunting ground for spear-fishermen, particularly for snappers and groupers!

5. Tioman Island, Pahang

Considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Tioman is a marine park that has spectacular reefs. The island is blessed with lovely beaches, waterfalls and rugged rainforests that are ideal for trekking and rock climbing.

6. Turtle Island, Sabah

Turtle Island Park is the largest of these islands and has been developed to house the park's headquarters, a visitors' centre, basic tourist facilities and a turtle hatcher.

Consists of three main islands, this park is acclaimed for its pristine natural environment. Covering a total area of 15,864ha., this park was gazetted in 1978 to protect its pristine natural environment.
