"The Perlis Herbal Garden was established by the Perlis Forestry Department in 1998. The garden now serves as a "living museum", as well as a gene bank for a variety of plants found in the country." |

In almost every part of Malaysia, traditional herbal practices among local communities are still evident. With a high diversity of ethnic groups living close to the forests, it is not surprising that forest resources are still utilised in many ways; whether for food, medicine, fuel, or simply for aesthetic, cultural and religious purposes. The forests of Malaysia are rich in plant diversity. Many plants are still available for the continued practice of the "age-old" craft of plant utilisation. In this respect, the state of Perlis shows no exception. Hence, the establishment of the Perlis Herbal Garden.
Essentially, it is an "ethno botanical museum" where the public can learn more about our rich plant resources and appreciate its value to humankind. Ideally, the garden strives to conserve our natural heritage and serves to utilise our traditional knowledge for the benefit of future generations.
Opens on Tuesday - Sunday (inclusive of Public Holidays) from 9.00am to 4.30pm. Admission fee is RM 1.00 for adults, RM 0.50 for Children and free for students in school uniforms.
