Tanjung Aru's beach is a long stretch of white sand lined with palm and casuarina trees. Only 6km from Kota Kinabalu town centre, or 10km from the airport, it is very popular among locals as a weekend getaway with families and friends.
Visitors may just relax under the shady trees; activities like water skiing or scuba diving can be arranged through the nearest resort, the Shangri-la Tanjung Aru.
