The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, located in northeastern Sabah, is the largest forest-covered alluvial floodplain containing some of the few remaining examples of endangered freshwater swamp forests harbouring a huge variety of bird and animal life. Various species of wildlife are in their element here. The animal most closely associated with the Kinabatangan is the proboscis monkey, while equally engaging are the other varieties of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. This place is becoming increasingly popular among people who enjoy bird watching and wildlife sighting.
