The PETRONAS Performing Arts Group (PPAG) continues to make its mark by presenting yet another astounding performance entitled Titian Zaman at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) on May 13 (Tuesday) and May 14 (Wednesday) at 8.30PM.
Titian Zaman, produced by Puan Hartini Hj Abdullah, will be the second presentation by the PPAG for the year 2008 after the successful staging of the dance drama Raja Bersiong in January 2008. This is part of PETRONAS’ continuous effort to preserve the Malay cultural and traditional heritage. These presentations are also a continuation of the PPAG’s other successful performances staged at DFP, such as Mek Mulung, Kalbu and Simfoni Tradisional.
This time around, the PPAG provides a unique presentation of Titian Zaman whereby audiences will be treated to two segments of performance; a dance drama entitled ‘Semerah Padi’, and a dance potpourri entitled ‘Laman Kreasi’. This is a gift for the fans of PPAG, which provides a variety of traditional offerings for the audiences in a single attendance.
‘Semerah Padi’ is inspired from a film directed by renowned and late actor Tan Sri P Ramlee, which was produced in 1956. A story of love and tragedy, it revolves around the friendship of Aduka and Teruna, who are in love with the same girl named Dara. This dance drama is directed by Roslee Mansor, with choreographs by A Sam Palal, and music by Mohd Yazid Zakaria.
‘Laman Kreasi’ presents eight newly-choreographed dances: Tari Puteri Asyik, Tari Seri Inai, Tari Lilin Ceracap, Zapin Tangkas Beralun, Tari Seri Damak, Silat Tari Piring, Sowodatip and Sakti. These dances incorporate both traditional and contemporary elements, created by the PPAG’s choreographers, such as Shalinda Ismail, Roslina Mohd Idrus, and Rozilah Abdul Rahman, with new music compositions from the PPAG’s composers, such as Mohd Husin Osman, Yuzaifullah Mohd Yusof, and Noor Leyzam Ali.
Tickets to the performances are priced at RM35, RM30, RM20, and RM10, and can be purchased at the Box Office. Kindly call 03 2051 7007 or fax 03 2051 7077 or email dfp_boxoffice@petronas.com.my.
