Dubai, May 8 – Tourism Malaysia is hoping that foreign airlines will make early announcement if they plan to mount additional flights from the Middle East to Malaysia in the coming summer. Tourism Malaysia director-general, Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab said airlines would normally provide additional flights during summer between Jun and September.
He added that the problem now is that the number of flights to Malaysia was not sufficient and many tourists are bound to end up disappointed.
Earlier he held a meeting with President and CEO of Emirates, Airline Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker and Gulf Air marketing vice-president, John Bernard.
Mirza also added that Malaysia Airlines had also increased its flight frequency from five to seven flights a week beginning April 1 but it was still not enough to cater for the demand.
