About the resort Set in the tropical Malaysian island paradise of Pulau Tenggol , this beautiful resort is only 60 minutes from the coastal quiet fishing town of Kuala Dungun, Terengganu. The island, small and compact (less than 3 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide) is one of the most beautiful and serene islands flanking the famous East Coast of Malaysia, known for its pristine waters warmed by the South China Sea. The island of East Coast, in particular the islands of Terengganu are reknown for their year round tropical climate, beautiful white sandy beaches, clear azure blue waters and some of the best diving in the world. Pulau Tenggol's deep forested interior also makes it a scenic destination for adventurous hikers and trekkers. In fact, there are three abrupt hills rising over 800 feet inland and the only flat areas are in the west by the shoreline. Telok Ayer Tawar is the largest and most secluded sandy bay on the west coast and it is here that Tenggol Island Resort is situated. Facilities and amenities for sailing, diving, boating, windsurfing and many other sports and recreational activities are also available. The natural timber chalet of Tenggol Island Resort blend harmoniously into the environment, nestled comfortably amongst the lust green fringing beach. This cosy family-run operation is the only fully-equipped dive outfit on the island, boasting of a lounge with full-facilities such as diver's classroom, DAN oxygen kits for emergency, dive shop, 4 speed boats and 2 wooden dive boats, quality Scubapro equipment and an impressively spacious and well-designed divers' kit-up area.   Accommodation We are the only fully equipped dive resort on the island. Accommodation is in the form of chalets or bungalows, with fully attached bathrooms and toilet facilities. It also has a main hall for meals, a lounge with a classroom for classes and a kit-up area. Audio-visual facilities are also available. We have two DAN oxygen kits for any emergency. The nearest decompression chamber is at Kuantan Naval Base about two hours' drive.   Activities There is something for everyone from simply relaxing to exciting and reinvigorating diving. Pulau Tenggol is gazetted as a marine sanctuary and offers the avid diver over 20 diving spots which include - Batu Cancang noted for its clear waters and good visibility, the southern end of Telok Ayer Tawar famous for resident white tips, Napoleons and and Batu Tokong Kamudi, home to large pelagics, turtles and whale sharks. Also present for divers to explore are pinnacle and caves, many table top corals and even a ship wreck. As a beach resort, Tenggol Island Resort provides all guests with an array of exciting watersports.   Getting There BY AIR Both national carriers, Malaysian Airline Systems and Air Asia offer regular daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu arriving at Sultan Mahmud Airport. Taxis are readily available at the airports for city transfers. From Kuala Lumpur airport or any other point of entry, it is advisable to get an early morning flight to Kuala Terengganu. It is about one and half hour's drive to Dungun. The transfer boat normally leaves at 10 am. Any change of schedule, please inform us of time of arrival. Alternatively, you can catch the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan. From Kuantan, it is an hour and 40 minutes' drive by taxi or car. BY BUS AND TAXI Kuala Terengganu is the main hub for express bus and coach travel in and out of the state. Long distance taxis are also readily available and can take passengers as far afield as Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Johore Bahru.
