Depart morning or afternoon. Our orientation and city tour of Miri town starts with a drive up Canada Hill (*not available when on coach tours) overlooking the town. You will be briefed on the historical development of Miri, developed rapidly from a small village in the 1800s to a very cosmopolitan and modern town. This has been largely due to the influence of the discovery of oil when Miri’s first oil was spud in 1910. This oil well, now known as the Grand Old Lady, sits as a relic on the Canada Hill.

We continue on to visit the bustling Farmer’s Market or commonly called the ‘Tamu’ where you will see the various local vegetables, fruits and foods brought in by the natives and local farmers from around Miri. Drive through the old town of Miri through the bazaars and then on to the local malls in the next district, where you may want to stop for some shopping for local souvenirs and handicrafts before returning to your hotel.
