To experience the sights, sounds and wonders of Malaysian life, check out the homestay programme at Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani, which exposes visitors to the culture, traditions and Malaysian way of life.

Located in Selangor, a journey from Kuala Lumpur to Dorani Homestay Village takes about one hour. The homestay programme is a special holiday package where you have the opportunity to stay with farmers and gain the experience pertaining to farmers' and villagers' unique daily activities such as paddy-planting and batik painting.

As fishing is one of the main activities in this area, one can try their skill at fishing by the paddy fields -- the traditional way. Other main attractions for tourists include fire flies observation and crab hunt at the mangrove swamps that is abound in the village vicinity. For those wanting to savour the laid-back life of the villagers, relax and unwind while feasting the eyes at the beauty of mother nature.

     Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani (Sungai Haji Dorani Village) located in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, is a dream village surrounded by endless squares of paddy fields and rows of century-old canals.  Founded in 1916, Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani is steeped in history. The irrigation canals built by the British for the rice fields about 100 years ago are still in good condition and lend a rustic look to the lush yellow-green village of wooden houses amid rice fields.

At night, the gamelan (a traditional musical instrument) is played and homestay guests can learn to dance the kuda kepang (a traditional Javanese dance performed in rich costumes using woven “horses”) and the silat (a traditional Malay martial art).In the dark hours after sunset, hundreds of owls come out looking for prey and most homes there have their own owls to help protect their rice fields from rats. The Firefly Park Resort at Kampung Bukit Belimbing is about an hour away from the village. The glow of hundreds of fireflies at night is a sight to behold.
